THE GRAND RIVER KENNEL CLUB OF WATERLOO WELLINGTON.

Our goals and purpose. To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Dogs. To educate the public on being responsible dog owners. To conduct sanctioned/licensed dog related events .
We are committed to advancing the sport of the purebred dog. We strive to uphold high standards for the GRKC.

The Grand River Kennel Club recognizes the need for dog clubs and volunteers promoting and protecting the interests of purebred dogs.

History of the Grand River Kennel Club On July 16th/2004, a group of dedicated canine enthusiasts, organized a meeting to discuss forming a kennel club. Each member of the group was a well experienced dog person that had been active in conformation, obedience, and many other dog related sports. On this evening, at this meeting the Grand River Kennel Club was formed to serve the Kitchener/Waterloo area. Shortly afterwards a Constitution and By-Laws was adopted and a regular meeting room was arranged at the Community Centre where our club meets each month.

The Grand River Kennel Club has been very active in the community from the very beginning, offering year round, ongoing classes to the public and our members in obedience, puppy kindergarten and show handling.

Our club has hosted several eye clinics for health conscious breeders and concerned owners to have their dog’s eye examined by a canine Ophthalmologist
We have hosted a well attended canine reflexology course, open to any dog lover that wanted to attend. Our club has attended fall fairs in our area to set up information booths and do demonstrations for the public.

We host Obedience matches twice a year along with Conformation matches spring and fall. We hold Canine Good Neighbor Trials and also Temperament Tests twice a year along with the matches. We recently added Rally O to our matches. Our matches are always professional, well attended and well organized by our dedicated knowledgeable members. We proudly hosted our first licensed United Kennel Club Dog Shows in the spring of 2012 which were very successful.
